I never could talk myself into buying the two-pack with Poppy and her sister, but as soon as I saw this Dragon Games Poppy I was interested. I like the more mideval look with the armor.
the back of the box features a full body cartoon of Poppy holding her pet dragon. there are also smaller cartoons of the other characters in this line and a little bio for the dragon.
with the plastic out of the way, we can see that Poppy comes with a silver hairbrush and stand, in addition to her pet dragon, booklet, and shield.
Poppy's fashion consists of two parts, a top and a pair of leggings. the top consists of a black tanktop with a see-through purple half skirt. the half skirt has hair braids printed on it. the leggings are purple with silver geometric patterns printed over it.
to accessorize Poppy has a braided silver crown with a flower in the center and chains hanging on the sides. she also has a chandelier necklace and silver pauldrons. all of these items have lots of nice molded in details that would be brought out even better with a paint wash.
she also has a wide silver plastic belt that looks braided with a pair of scissors molded in the center. on her right arm she has a silver bracer that looks like it's made of chainmail with another pair of scissors molded on it.
her boots are silver wedges that look like they are made of dragon scales. they have lots of nice molded in details, and the laces are painted black. the paint could use a little touching up, and I think a paintwash would really bring out more of the details.
here is Poppy's pet dragon, named Brushfire. it is molded in purple plastic, with painted pink ears and pink plastic wings. the dragon actually looks like a weird combination of a horse and a lizard. and it looks like it has a braided tail? definitely a unique take on a dragon
she has a little booklet that explains the rules of the Dragon Games, which is basically Quidditch, for any Potter fans out there.
the final accessory included is a child sized ring that is shaped like a shield. it has molded in filigree and stud details with a big "P" on it. there is a little sort of handle on the back side of it like Poppy is supposed to be able to hold it.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: neat mideval armor themed doll, bonus pet
The Bad: exclusive, so it might be difficult to find
The Verdict: if you are collecting Ever After High dolls, this Poppy would be a nice addition.
