I was thrilled when I happened to notice that tall fashionista barbie Boho Fringe showed up as a lightening deal and ordered her as fast as I could. I think she's really pretty and she has some of the best looking fashions to come out in the line so far.
the back of the box features pictures of barbie in her fashions, along with pictures of some of the other dolls in the giftset line.
here's a better shot with the plastic out of the way, so you can see barbie and all her included accessories.
barbie's first fashion is a white dress with various zigzaged stripes of patterns printed on it. well on the front of it. unfortunately this is one of Mattel's infamous "front only" prints. sadly you couldn't really tell that until the doll was removed from the packaging. too bad. I really liked this dress, so I'm disappointed now.
let's just take a pause to appreciate barbie's beauty. it makes me feel a little better about the terrible disappointment she's wearing. also she has nice thick hair that has some soft curls in it. I wish my hair looked like this.
barbie's first pair of shoes is a pair of fringed, butter yellow, gladiator sandals. they have lots of nice molded in details, including side buckles. while I think the fringes would be annoying to wear, these are pretty nice.
she is packaged holding a pink purse with fringe hanging off the front side.
barbie's second fashion consists of a light yellow peasant blouse, and a "suede" skirt. the shirt has red paisley patterns printed around the keyhole neckline, and the shirt has no velcro opening. the skirt has stitched detailing and opens with velcro straight up the back. good mix and match possibilities here.
her second purse is a tan color with a shoulder strap. it has lots of nice molded in details that look kind of like jewels and other decorations.
to accessorize barbie has a nice bracelet. it looks like a stack of three different bracelets and has lots of nice molded in details. it is made out of a coppery plastic that looks quite nice.
her final fashion is a pink tanktop and bellbottom pants. the top has no velcro opening, so it must be pulled on over her legs or her hair. there is pink lace trim at the bottom hem. the pants have nice yellow stitched detailing to simulate pockets, a waistband, and fly. more mix and match possibilities with these items.
unfortunately the packaging kind of messed up her second pair of shoes. they are molded in a soft plastic that the tight rubber bands kind of warped. they are a nice pair of copper sandals with molded in buckle and stud details. I really hope they eventually relax and return to their normal shape. I really like them. also there is a hole in her pant leg visible in this photo. it was made by those tiny T ties that Mattel is so fond of. it annoys the heck out of me that the packaging damages, and in some case ruins, the products.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: pretty doll, lots of mix and match fashion items
The Bad: no articulation, first dress is one sided
The Verdict: if you enjoy playline dolls with extra fashions, Boho Fringe would be an excellent buy, even at full price. just ignore the first dress, and everything else is wonderful. I'm sure kids would love her too.
