the second doll I grabbed on my birthday shopping trip was Fashionista #31 Rock'n'Roll plaid. Yes, I am an adult. No, I don't care what you think.
here's the back of the box featuring a photo of the entire fashionista lineup.
it wasn't clear until the plastic was off, but I think it's cute that her boxliner has boomboxes on it.
Barbie's fashion consists of a shirt and a skirt. the shirt is white and sleeveless with a record and flames screen printed on it, with the words "Rock N Roll" in black letters. the shirt looks rather big on her, so probably other body types could borrow it. her skirt is elastic waisted and has a pink and brown plaid print. I really like the skirt and hope they use this fabric more in the future.
here's a better shot of her shirt. you can also see her face better. she looks very young to me, like maybe a friend for Skipper. I do like the simple makeup she has on. her hair is nice and thickly rooted, unlike last week's doll.
to accessorize, Barbie has a magenta cuff bracelet. it looks like it is meant to be composed of three rows of big square studs.
you may have noticed my hand again in the full length shot above. I had trouble balancing this gal as well, but thankfully it was not from her body, but her shoes. I have yet to master balancing dolls wearing very pointy heels.
that said, I really do like these shoes. they are molded in black plastic. they are opentoed with thick ankle straps. there are lots of molded in stud details and straps. sorry, I'm sure this kind of shoe has an actual name, but I'm a sneakers girl myself, so I have no idea what it would be. they are edgier looking than most of my barbies' shoes, but I think I will be getting some use out of them.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: new body type, cute clothes, good shoes, cute face
The Bad: no articulation
The Verdict: personally I think Fashionista #31 Rock'n'Roll plaid, is worth the sub $10 walmart price I was able to get her for, but I can understand if you disagree. I'm just in love with all the new fashionista body types.
