I finally got around to opening my LA Girl Fashionista. I was able to find her when she first came out in stores. I actually saw her again recently, so she might still be shipping, even though she has been out a while.
she comes in the standard Fashionista packaging. the back of the box features photos of some of the other dolls in the line. the plastic removal only gives you a look at her shoes.
this doll gets her unofficial name from the blouse she wears, which has "LA girl" printed on it in black script. the blouse itself has a satin feel with a white and light blue floral print in the background. she wears this with a pleather feel black skirt. it has silver zigzag stitching straight up the front.
before I talk about her accessories, I'd like to mention a few of the things that make LA Girl special. the right side of her head is flocked to simulate shaved hair. the rooted part of her hair is a mixture of blonde and light pink. I also like that she has a tiny painted on mole to the right of her nose.
to accessorize, she wears a gaudy bright yellow necklace. it is molded to look like beads and jewels. she also has a very small bright yellow purse. it has some molded in details that are hard for me to make out because the color makes my eyes go buggy.
her shoes are a pair of black close-toed sandals. they have nice detailed straps with molded in buckles. they come rubber banded to her feet, so I'm concerned they might be loose fitting. time will tell.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: unique barbie
The Bad: difficult to find
The Verdict: LA Girl Fashionista has been a collector favorite, so if you like her look, I recommend you pick her up sooner rather than later.
