As part of the Brand Boo Students line, we get Kjersti Trollsøn an exchange student from Goreway. Interesting side note: she comes on the infrequently used "little sister" body.
The back of the box features a large cartoon of her face, tiny photos of the other two dolls in the line, and an abbreviated bio.
Included inside are a black stand and hairbrush, diary, and a handbag. The tag line of her diary is "My diary is single player only."
Kjersti's fashion consists of a top and a skirt. Her top is mainly black with a pixellated skullette printed on the front. the sleeves are pixellated in teal, magenta, blue, and black. one sleeve is hanging off her shoulder and there is a pink ribbon on that side to help keep the top straight.
the skirt is two layers. the bottom layer is a pixellated fabric similar to the sleeves and the hemline is cut in a jagged square pattern. the top layer is a black mesh with metallic pink printed on it. I'm not sure how to describe the shape of the printing. it reminds me of swords pointed downwards.
to accessorize Kjersti has a teal knitted viking cap. the horns are painted a beige color. the hat has lots of nice molded in knitted details, and as a knitter I really love that. she also has the same skullette from her shirt on her earrings, which are molded in blue plastic. a paintwash should help those stand out a bit more. side note: she has rather large, pointed ears.
Kjersti's eyes are painted in a pixellated style. she has bright pink Tetris block style glasses. she also wears a single chunky black bangle on her left wrist. (Parental warning: all jewelry are small parts)
her shoes are molded in a light purple plastic. the sole is blocky and there is a stylized game controller on the front. they have built in socks that were painted in a teal color to match her hat.
her handbag is the same stylized game controller from her shoes. it is molded in silver plastic and the buttons are painted pink. the handle is black. it looks like it should open, but I was unable to get it to do so.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: new character, lots of cute, geeky details.
The Bad: small parts
The Verdict: if you collect only the first or basic issues of new characters, this is the Kjersti Trollsøn you're going to want to get. that and she's just overall cute. I think she's a good buy.
