in addition to the curvy bodies, the new Fashionistas also come in petite size (similar to Skipper's height). The first one I picked up is Blue Brocade, aka #25. the height of her hairstyle helps keep the box (standard barbie size) from looking quite so empty.
the back of the box is the same as the others, with the full line-up being shown.
there is nothing but the doll in the box, but you can get a bit of a better look at the presentation without the plastic in the way.
this barbie wears a pretty brocade printed dress. the top part has a white background with blue patterning. the skirt part is a light blue with blue and black patterning. there is black ribbon sewn down from the neckline and around the waist.
unfortunately when I was buying this one I had to choose between a good face and a dress that was sewn straight. I chose the good face. and she's lovely. to accessorize with her dress she wears teal earrings that have a brocade pattern stamped into them. I'm a little confused as to why they chose teal rather than any of the colors in her dress. they kind of stand out in a bad way. (Parental warning: small parts)
she has the high-heel feet and wears black boots. they have molded in buckle straps and little studs. looking forward to putting a little paint on these to bring the details out.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: beautiful doll, diverse body type and features
The Bad: small parts, limited articulation
The Verdict: as a huge fan of the new Fashionistas I think #25, Blue Brocade, is a good buy. she also would pass as a good friend for Skipper, since Mattel has sadly left this iteration of her friendless, as they are very close in size.
