Barbie Style Summer is my favorite in the Flats-to-Heels line. I'm a sucker for beautiful, brown haired, articulated barbies, especially ones that come with clothes that have good mix/match possibilities.
she comes in a complicated box that isn't even a proper rectangle. the back features photos of Summer, her accessories, and the other dolls in the line.
with the plastic removed from the front you can see Summer a little better, along with her extra pair of shoes and purse. the busy background on the box liner kind of makes me nauseous to look at. my brain is kind of weird though.
it's always a bonus when my favorite doll in a line also comes with the best clothes. Summer wears a pink paisly sleeveless dress and an awesome coat. the coat is grey with kind of a green tint to it. the sleeves are 3/4 length. there is lots of stitched detailing, including outlines for pockets. I love this piece. I will definitely be using it in a lot of redresses.
Summer's accessories are all very nice as well. first she has a long pendant style necklace that is molded in gold plastic. it is contoured to hang naturally on her body which is nice.
she also wears two gold cuff bracelets and a belt. the bracelets feature different kinds of studding (Parental Warning: small parts!). the belt simulates braided leather and is molded in light brown plastic. the heart shaped buckle is painted pink to match her dress.
Summer's first pair of shoes is a set I was really excited about, but now that I'm looking at them for this review, I'm not really sure why. they are tan flat-footed sort of gladiator sandals. they have nice buckles molded into the sides, but all along the front is molded on fringe. its the fringe that I'm not really keen on now.
her second pair of shoes is a pair of light brown heeled booties. they have molded in shoelace details, and the heels almost look like they have a woodgrain pattern molded in. I plan on jazzing these up with a little paint, but I'm sure they will get some reuse regardless. I love neutral colored, realistic footwear for my dolls.
oops, looks like I forgot to take a picture of her purse. it is tan to match her first pair of shoes and has a brown bow painted on the front. it doesn't open.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: everything! beautiful brown haired articulated doll, great clothes and accessories
The Bad: small parts, hard to find?
The Verdict: Barbie Style Summer is a doll to pick up if you like to redress and display or play with your dolls.
