Raven Queen, daughter of the Evil Queen from Snow White, is the second main character in Ever After High. I think she is intended to be the antagonist by wanting to choose her own path, rather than become the next Evil Queen.
she comes in the standard plastic front, book style packaging. the back features a full body cartoon of Raven along with her bio. you can also see the keyhole cutout that I don't understand purpose of. maybe to mimic the little books with keys that the Legacy Day dolls come with?
with the plastic removed you can get a glare-free look at Raven and what all she comes with. she has a tiny purse, a story bookmark, and a silver hairbrush that matches the silver stand sandwiched between the cardboard layers of her backing.
Raven's fashion is quite elaborate. her dress has a sparkly black top over a layered purple skirt. the top layer is a lavender color with printed lattice work on it, over a couple of layers of see-through purple fabric. it is shorter in the front than it is in the back, and without the black mesh tights underneath, it would probably be considered indecent for school.
her wedge sandals are black with dragon scales and feather detailing molded into the sides. the chains across the top of her foot are painted silver. a little more paint would have really helped all the details stand out.
Raven also wears a silver spikey headband crown and an elaborate plastic collar that I'm not sure is removable without taking her head off. it has the same dragonscale and feather detailing as her shoes, with a purple painted jewel front and center with chains underneath it. this is molded in silver plastic with an overall black paint wash, which is nice.
she also wears a rather nice belt that I unfortunately don't have a picture of. it has a wide back with filigree detailing molded in and a chain in the front. this is also molded in silver plastic with a black paint wash.
instead of a ring, Raven wears a cuff molded to look like several stacked bracelets. they are studded and bejeweled, but unfortunately there is no paint to bring these details out. the only paint is on the purple jewel that hangs off a chain down her hand. I think it is supposed to be a ring, but there is no plastic bands, so it just hangs awkwardly over her hand. I do like that they tried something different here though.
finally we come to Raven's purse. it is a small, more like a clutch, although it does have a handle. it is molded in black plastic with stud detailing. only the handle and clasp are painted in silver.
The Bottom Line
The Good: beautiful fashion, neat accessories
The Bad: boring head mold, accessories could use more paint
The Verdict: if you are interested in Ever After High, you will probably want to pick up the basic Raven Queen [still available as of 1/6/16].
