for whatever reason, Mattel decided to transition the character C.A. Cupid from the Monster High universe to Ever After High. to be honest, I like the new EAH version better.
the back of the box features Cupid's new bio and cartoon. there are also portrait cartoons of some of the other dolls in the basic line. the spine of the box features Cupid's portrait and name.
still attached to the liner you can see that Cupid comes with a bow and quiver and a hair brush. her stand is packaged in the middle of the cardboard sections of the box.
Cupid's dress is Greek inspired. the bodice is pink with a net overlay. the overlay hangs down on the left side of her skirt. the skirt itself is white with pink cloud print and lined at the bottom with black lace. she wears this over a pair of black net tights.
she belts her dress with an interesting thing that sort of reminds me of the arm guard I used when I shot archery. it has a wider section that is molded to look like it has gold feathers and the other side is molded to look like black ropes.
on her right hand Cupid wears a black ring that looks like a ribbon bow. on her left wrist she has a gold bracelet that also looks feathered. her earrings are tiny black hearts and she wears a headband that has a heart with an arrow through it. (Parental warning: all jewelry is small parts!)
like her Monster High version, this Cupid has heart highlights in her eyes and on her lips.
also like her Monster High version, Cupid's wings clip onto her neck. they are molded out of white plastic with a lot of feather detailing. the fronts of them are drybrushed with gold paint to bring out the details a little better.
Cupid's shoes are molded out of gold plastic and the heels look like the fletched end of the arrow. the outside of the ankle straps have a wing molded in and the main part of the shoe looks feathered. there is a pink heart on the outside of each heel.
her bow is molded out of gold plastic. (it looks like a recurve to me if anyone is interested.) there is an arrow permanently affixed to it and a painted pink heart tassell hanging from the bottom.
her quiver has a bunch of arrows molded with it as a single piece, so they are not removable. they are also not at all in scale to the one that is part of her bow. the main body of the quiver is gold with a black strap, and there is a pink heart detail painted on.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: beautiful new rendition of the character
The Bad: small parts
The Verdict: the Ever After High basic version of C.A. Cupid is my favorite version of the character. if you are an Ever After High fan, or a fan of Valentines day, you will probably enjoy this doll.
