one of the many random budget lines that Mattel has put out this year is the Music Festival line. of course Abbey is my favorite.
the back of the box features a full body cartoon of Abbey, a closeup of her VIM badge, and smaller cartoons of the other 2 dolls in this line. being a budget doll, she comes in the slim box. no brush or stand are included.
here she is out of the box. she wears a wears a magenta/purple/blue peasant top with a miniskirt. the skirt is made of a denim feeling material with a frayed hem. the print on it resembles purple and blue paint splatters.
Abbey accessorizes with a black scarf tied around her head and a pair of her signature mismatched earrings. her right earring is a purple icicle, and her left earring is a blue snowflake (parental warning: small parts!). I believe the scarf uses the same material as her Lab Partners dress.
something that you can't really see in the photos is how badly her hair was rooted. she has some very thin spots, including right in the front, that is fortunately covered by her scarf. unfortunately this also means it is hard to tell if you're getting a doll with a bad root job until it is too late.
in place of a necklace, Abbey wears her white VIM ("Very Important Monster") badge so she can get backstage access. she also has a translucent blue icicle belt. due to the thickness of the skirt waist hem, it doesn't sit quite right on her hips.
Abbey comes with an awesome pair of translucent blue boots. the effect looks like ice which is really neat. unfortunately there are these hot pink horseshoe like things at the ankle and across the toes. fortunately these are just held on with tiny rubberbands, so they were easy to remove. I like her boots much better without them!
The Bottom Line:
The Good: beautiful Abbey, mix and match possibilities with her fashion
The Bad: no brush/stand, small parts
The Verdict: if you're an Abbey fan like me, you'll probably love Music Festival Abbey like I do.
