the back of the box features an adorable cartoon of Howleen in her dance clothes and a little note she wrote about how much she is enjoying her dance class. there is also a smaller cartoon of the other three dolls in this line.
removed from the outer box you can get a better look at the box liner. it is designed to look like Howleen is standing on a stage in the spotlight, which I think is really cute. you can also see that Howleen does not come with a brush or stand.
Howleen wears a one shoulder leotard with the attached pants. the body is light blue with pink, purple, and yellow paw prints. the attached pants are black with pink and light blue paw prints.
her shoes are a nice practical pair of light blue sneakers. they have purple painted on laces, and lots of molded in details, such as paw prints on the side.
to accessorize Howleen has a bright pink belt. the main part of the belt looks like safety pins with chains hanging down. there are also two paw print medallions hanging on the right side.
Howleen's only jewelry is a yellow safety pin in her left ear. in the below picture you can also see Howleen's beautiful face. I like the nice softer makeup she wears. she also has big puffy pink pigtails in place of her orange curls.
her purse is very detailed and designed to look like a boombox. it is molded in a more rubbery black plastic so that you can put things in it via the slit in the top. the cassette door and skullettes on the speakers are painted in bright pink which really stands out. unfortunately none of the other buttons or knobs are painted. the back is plain except for some molded in claw marks.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: cute Howleen doll, detailed boombox purse
The Bad: no mix/match opportunities with her fashion, no brush or stand included
The Verdict: if you are a fan of Howleen, Dance Class Howleen would be a cute addition to your collection. if you would rather have a basic edition of Howleen by herself, check out 13 Wishes Howleen which includes a diary and her pet hedgehog Cushion.
