another of the fashion packs I was very excited about is the Robecca Deluxe Fashion Pack.
it comes in the bubble fashion packaging. the back of the package features a cartoon of Robecca and the other ghouls in this fashion line wearing the dresses that are included in their sets.
here it is with the plastic bubble cut off. the background is designed to look like a closet. the reason I hate the bubble packaging is that you have to partially destroy the package to get at the goods, as you can see by the bare cardboard around the edges.
I'm going to go ahead and get my least favorite part of this fashion pack out of the way- the weird monocle/headband/earring thing. it is molded out of a pretty translucent blue plastic and includes tons of little skulpted details (unpainted of course), but I really have no idea what to do with it, as it seems a little ridiculous to me. there is also a single earring for use with this piece, but I forgot to take a picture of it. (parental note: the earring is a very small part.)
and now for my favorite pieces in the set- the dress and belt. it is a halter dress with a blue ribbon bow sewed onto the front of the collar. the background of the print is a beautiful deep blue with light blue patterns on it. there are also metallic copper gears imprinted on it. some of the gears have the Monster High skullette in the center and most of them appear to be oozing.
the belt is molded out of a coppery plastic. it has a thick studded band with a clock face next to the buckle. there are also smaller clock faces hanging on the chains. it's very steampunk style.
to accessorize her fashions, Robecca has a pair of shoes and a purse. the front of the purse has dials and a waveform display that are painted in blue and look like a face. there are two large flathead screws that are molded to look like the are holding the cable handle on.
the shoes are molded in a bright blue plastic that is kind of soft. the heel and sole are painted copper (bronze?) and are molded to look like several metal plates have been bolted together. over the tongue of the shoe are molded buckles with flathead screws on the sides.
the back of the purse shows off the bolted together metal plating look. it is identical to the front without the molded in face dials. the side of the purse kind of looks like it has an antenna, but I'm not sure what the actual purpose of that part is. the purse does open up, via a henge in the bottom.
Robecca's second fashion is made up of three pieces, each with a different print that makes me think of victorian era wallpaper. actually her dress kind of does too, but the metallic gears distract from it. the top is a black tshirt with blue latticework with tan gears printed on it. there is also a tiny cropped jacket(?) with blue and purple diamonds. I'm not sure it's supposed to go with this fashion actually, but I didn't want to ugly up the dress with it.
the bottom is a pair of booty shorts. they have a black, blue, and tan stripe print on them, that ends up looking a little weird at the crotch. there are two rows of gears that sort of look like buttons (think double breasted jacket), printed on the front of the shorts. I think there are too many patterns going on in this fashion (Robecca must have been hanging out with Frankie), but the separate pieces all have potential. well, maybe not the cropped jacket.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: new fashions, new shoes with mix/match potential
The Bad: earring is a small part, only 1 pair of shoes for both fashions
The Verdict: I like Robecca so the Robecca Deluxe Fashion Pack caught my eye. if you enjoy redressing your dolls, you will probably like this set. if not, you can probably skip this one. I don't think the bubble packs display very well.
