I've had Classroom Lagoona for nearly a year now, and I'm only just now opening her to take photos. (Update: 1/9/14: ugh, I started this review a whole year ago, so you can see how frustrated I am with the whole leaky head thing.)
the back of the box features a cartoon of Lagoona freeing one of her "bro" frogs, and an excerpt from her lab notebook. there are also two small photographs of the other two dolls in this line.
removed from the outer box, we see that Lagoona's box liner is actually pretty cute. it resembles a classroom. some of her accessories are attached to the liner on the shelves. she also comes with a magenta locker with second fashion, lab notebook, stickers, brush, and stand.
Lagoona comes wearing a simple but cute dress under a white labcoat. the dress has a turquoise background with black anchors and white bubbles printed on it. it has black ribbon straps and detailing on the top and bottom hems. the labcoat is quite nice and fits well.
here you can get a better look at the print as well as some of the jewelry Lagoona accessorizes with. she wears a pink necklace and bracelet that remind me of coral. they are cute, but I don't really feel like they go with this dress.
in addition, Lagoona has a cute pair of earrings. they are little black anchors hanging from yellow ropes. I really like these. jewelry is small parts!
in the above picture you can see Lagoona's beautiful face. I love the way her makeup was done. I had planned on making her my default display Lagoona until I saw the huge grease spot on her box liner from the glue or whatever seeping out of her head. (Update 1/9/14: I had her stored primarily upright in a shoebox, and her head left another grease spot on it, so this will be an ongoing problem.)
Lagoona only comes with 1 pair of shoes for her 2 fashions, but I think they're really neat. they are turquoise with black accents on brown wedge heels. yellow ropes wind around her leg and tie in bows above her leg fins. you will have to remove her leg fins to get the shoes off.
while I'm talking about clothes, I'll go ahead and show the second included fashion, being modeled by my sea monster CAM. it consists of a top and turquoise knee-length pants. the pants have black ribbon at the waist and where the pockets would be, and black cuffs.
the top has a black background with wave swirls printed on in white, pink, and turquoise. it is asymmetrical, with one normal sleeve on the left, and an off the shoulder sleeve with a turquoise ribbon strap on the right. the right hip has a tie of the same fabric tacked on.
Lagoona comes with a very nice container with lid. one side features the Monster High skullette, and the other has graduations for measuring. you've already seen this in my chem lab mini photo story.
there is also a tiny green three-eyed "bro" frog. complete with tiny painted on tear. he fits inside the container. I can't really say much more about him, because he makes me sad. he is from one of the webisodes.
another webisode tie-in is a cracked egg in a little box. this thing is all one piece, so the egg is not removable. it is sculpted to look like the egg is resting on something fuzzy.
one of the cutest accessories is a scaled down plastic version of Lagoona's lab notebook and a turquoise Monster High skullette adorned pen. the back of the "notebook" has the Monster High school crest on an inexpertly aligned sticker.
speaking of stickers, here are the two tiny sheets of stickers that are included. one sheet is black Monster High themed stickers, and the other is a nice teal Mad Science specific stickers. I think these are supposed to be used to decorate her locker. I've decided the lockers are interesting enough to get their own entry.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: beautiful Lagoona, cute accessories, 2 fashions
The Bad: some small parts
The Verdict: if you can still find her Classroom Lagoona is a lovely doll that's worth picking up. she'd look beautiful in any of Lagoona's fashions, and even has a neat box that makes a nice display for those who prefer not to debox their dolls.
