cyber monday at amazon

been checking out the deals available today, and I found a few that seemed pretty good to me...

currently you can save up to 50% off Barbies. this is just for select items, but the digital dress barbies are 50% off, talking dreamhouse barbies are 40% off, 30% off salon dolls, 25% off holiday barbie, and a bunch of other stuff. there is even a silkstone for sale on that page.

also you can save up to 35% of Monster High. again, this is select items only, but there are some pretty good deals. of particular note is 50% off Skelita Calaveras (my review of her here), and 40% off Picture Day Operetta. I did buy this Operetta a few weeks ago, but she came with the heart mask, not the spiderweb mask.

wave 1/original favorites monster high on sale at amazon!

for those of you who are needing some wave 1 basics, Amazon has the "big 3" ghouls original favorites rerelease dolls on sale right now.

if these dolls sell well, I hope Mattel will go back and rerelease more of the early basics (Ghoulia and Holt, in particular).

Madeline Hatter, review

because Mattel totally needed more of my money, they created Ever After High. like Monster High, there is a website, webisodes, books, ...and dolls. my favorite character is Madeline Hatter, daughter of the Mad Hatter.

The Bottom Line:

The Good: cute character and doll, with cute detailed accessories

The Bad: some small parts

The Verdict: if you aren't opposed to starting a new collection with Ever After High, I think Madeline Hatter is a great doll. she's colorful and will stand out on a shelf of Monsters or any other dolls.

deboxing Maddie Hatter

in case anyone else is like me, and can't find the stand in their Ever After High box...

after removing the plastic covering, you need to slit some tape on the bottom of the cardboard to open the liner/box. the stand is in a plastic bag taped to the inside.

another interesting tidbit about the box. there is a keyhole shaped cutout. as you can see its a bit big for the key shaped brush, so I'm not really sure what it's for. any ideas?

Dead Tired Spectra, review

also part of the 3rd wave of "creepover" inspired dolls is Dead Tired Spectra. while I'm not a particular fan of Spectra, I thought this one was lovely.

The Good: beautiful Spectra and nightgown

The Bad: no brush/stand, difficult to find

The Verdict: Dead Tired Spectra is a beautiful doll. if you're a fan of the Dead Tired line like I am (or a Spectra fan), she is a must-have.

Dead Tired Robecca, review

Dead Tired Robecca is one of the dolls in the 3rd wave of my favorite line. the Dead Tired line is creepover (read: sleepover) themed, and features all the ghouls in their pajamas. unfortunately this wave has not been carried in regular stores. it is only available online and in smaller stores. I got mine at BigLots.

The Bottom Line:

The Good: pretty doll, cute jammies and accessories

The Bad: difficult to find in stores, small part (iCoffin)

The Verdict: Dead Tired Robecca has been somewhat difficult to find, but I think she's worth looking for. she's lovely and comes with a really awesome victrola accessory. if you enjoy deboxing and displaying, or playing with, your dolls, she would be a great addition to your collection.

Monster High Music Festival Abbey Bombinable, review

one of the many random budget lines that Mattel has put out this year is the Music Festival line. of course Abbey is my favorite.

The Bottom Line:

The Good: beautiful Abbey, mix and match possibilities with her fashion

The Bad: no brush/stand, small parts

The Verdict: if you're an Abbey fan like me, you'll probably love Music Festival Abbey like I do.
