the most recent round of new students to Monster High has included some very interesting additions. one of these students is Rochelle Goyle. she comes in the standard coffin-style packaging.
the back of the box features her cartoon and bio. at her feet is her (not to scale) pet griffin, and the bottom right features the cartoons of the other 3 dolls in this wave.
you'll have to forgive me for forgetting to take a photo of her out of the box but still attached to the liner. by the time I got my replacement Rochelle (the above 2 photos are of the original with the head ooze) I was ready to play with her. you'll just have to trust me when I say she comes with her diary, a doll stand, and a brush.
Rochelle's fashion consists of a black and white striped top and a skirt. her skirt is irredescent and has fleur de lis and other patterns outlined in black.
for footwear Rochelle has a pair of high-heeled sandals that she wears with pink hosiery socks. her shoes are beautifully skulpted and have fleur de lis on the ankle straps.
to accessorize Rochelle wears a headband and some jewelry. she has a chunky black bracelet with swirling fleur de lis pattern. her right ear has a fleur de lis earring, and her left ear has an Eiffel tower earring (small parts!). her headband is reminescent of rot (read wraught) iron. her necklace is similar in design to her headband, but I haven't been able to get a good picture of it. Rochelle will probably have to strip down for that. [Update: necklace picture added!]
in the above photos you can see one of Rochelle's monster features- her ears. her most impressive feature is below- her wings. they plug into slots on her back and are easily removed. they have a cracked stone appearance like you would expect to see on old gargoyles.
Rochelle carries a cute stoney purse. it has a pink fleur de lis "clasp" and a braided or chain strap (it's difficult for me to tell). it does open, but will only fit very small items.
for companionship Rochelle has brought her pet griffin name Roux. Roux has been skulpted with beautiful details and was molded out of the same mottled grey stoney plastic as Rochelle. she has purple eyes which kind of look evil to me.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: cute new character with lots of unique features
The Bad: some small parts
The Verdict: Rochelle Goyle isn't very colorful (except for her bright pink hair) but she really stands out with creative touches. I think you'll love all of the details that went into making her a great doll.
