Recently I purchased the Monster High Day at the Maul Fashions Giftset from Amazon. I found the set to be well made and well worth the MSRP.
The back of the packaging shows an illustration of Frankie and Draculaura shopping at the "Maul" and includes a cute little story about why they went shopping for Clawdeen to cheer her up.
The fashion included for Draculaura is in her signature pink and girly style. It consists of a black shirt with pink hearts and frills with a connected long-sleeve "undershirt" of white netting. Her skirt is two layers of different shades of pink with a black netting underskirt for a bit of fullness. Underneath she has white netting "tights" that are connected to thigh-high black stockings with pink sticker bows.
Draculaura's accessories include a pair of skull earrings that have pink bows on them. Her purse is heart-shaped and has a indention in the top part for carrying small items. She also has matching pink shoes that have both hearts and bows on them. There is also what I believe to be a barrette with the heart motif, but it does not appear very sturdy and will probably break after a few uses. The first time I folded mine a white stress mark appeared in the plastic. Parental warning: both the earrings and the barrette are small items.
The fashion included for Frankie Stein, in my opinion, is not as cute as Draculaura's. Frankie is mixing some colors and patterns here that are rather bright. She has a bright blue mini-dress that has a lattice pattern in white and red. To go under it she has a pair of argyle leggings in black, with red, blue, and white. To wear over her mini-dress she has a silver vest with a velcro closure in the front, and a silver "belt" with red buckle.
I really like Frankie's high-top sneakers, with colors that match the rest of her outfit and include her lightning-bolt motif. She also has black and white lightning-bolt earrings, a red bracelet, and a blue and black bolt necklace. Her black purse (also with lightning-bolt) has a top that folds back leaving room for some tiny items for her to carry around. And now for the part that will make parents cringe: included is a tiny blue lighting-bolt ring to go on Frankie's finger.
Also included in this giftset are two cardboard shopping bags with gifts for Clawdeen Wolf. There is also a pink sort of coffin-shaped cup with two non-removable straws sticking out of the top. It seems a little out of place in this set, but some have guessed that it is for using with the new giftset of Clawd Wolf and Draculaura.
Frankie and Draculaura have bought four gifts for Clawdeen. The largest item is a gold colored belt with purple corseting(?) details. Straight out of the packaging it reminds me of a tiny WWE championship belt, but I do not own the Clawdeen doll that these were made to go with. There is also a purple purse with Clawdeen's zipper motif, a tribal-style necklace, and an arm-cuff with a little gold loop for her finger to go through.
The Bottom Line:
The Good: really cute fashions and accessories to go with your Monster High dolls. Its always nice to get more clothes for your dolls, without having to buy more dolls to get them.
The Bad: a few really tiny parts, including Frankie's ring and bracelet, and both sets of earrings, that may be easy to lose. Barrette might not hold up to daily play.
The Verdict: The Monster High Day at the Maul Fashions Giftset is a great value at MSRP and I highly recommend it for all Monster High fans.
